Contraindications

  • Pacemaker The speakers in vibroacoustic therapy devices contain powerful magnets, so it’s not safe to use the therapy near a pacemaker. 
  • Pregnancy Vibroacoustic therapy can be used during pregnancy with a doctor’s clearance, but it’s important to avoid placing the bowl near the mother’s femur, which is close to the baby’s ears. 
  • Recent surgery or open wounds Vibroacoustic therapy can affect circulation and reduce blood clotting, which can be harmful during healing. 
  • Bleeding disorders Vibroacoustic therapy can be harmful for people with bleeding disorders
  • Hypotension Vibroacoustic therapy is not recommended for people with very low blood pressure.
  • Epilepsy or seizure disorders Vibroacoustic therapy is not recommended for people with epilepsy or seizure disorders. 
  • Acute inflammation Vibroacoustic therapy is not recommended for people with acute inflammation. 
  • Acute rheumatoid arthritis Vibroacoustic therapy is not recommended for people with acute rheumatoid arthritis. 
  • Other contraindications include:
    • Deep vein thrombosis
    • Hypertonia
    • Psychosis
    • Retinal detachment
    • DVT/PE (deep vein thrombosis/pulmonary embolism)
    • Untreated orthostatic hypotension
    • Recently placed IUD or mesh sling
    • Complex regional pain syndrome/RSD
